Re: Skyrim
I'm playing a dangerous game, I'm watching the Yogscast playing Skyrim and now I'm wanting to play Oblivion. I don't think it's long till I get Skyrim.

Re: Skyrim
Skyrim got an unexpected patch yesterday to address the .exe being able to start the game without Steam starting up. However, this update has also broken the LAA patch so Skyrim will only use 2GB of ram again ... great effort Bethsoft ... I suppose we should of expected this from past ES games ...

Re: Skyrim
Yep spotted that and thought of you, I wasn't using the laa patch as mine runs alright I've only had one ctd in 35 hours, and the only fiddle I’ve done is to sharpen the shadows in the ini file. Still running on ult with AA off with no probs.
Fen forget Oldblivion and GO GET SKYRIM!!

Re: Skyrim
I want to but I've just bought that wrestling game which I want to play abit before obsession with Skyrim sets in and I'm playing Vindictus as well that and I want to get some play out of Oblivion, before Skyrim deletes it's existence. Might cave and get it next week, I was this close l--l to getting it with the wrestling game.

Re: Skyrim
This was one pissed Dragon, it was going for anything that moved, first a bandit camp, then wolfs and even a mud crab anything but ME!
Dragon going for Mammoth
Mammoths surrounding Dragon
While Dragon was distracted I finish it off, notice the roasted mud crab.

Wow a 10/10 I didn't expect that, he nails the revue though and even picks up on the same bits that annoyed me, Spoiler safe if you haven’t watched all the way through.

Yeah I don't always agree with Joe, but it's safe to say that he's mostly correct with his reviews (His top five reasons for why something will kick ass though to be taken only as entertainment, he buys into hype a lot, the guy gets excited can't blame him for that).

Re: Skyrim
Had good reason to curse steam tonight.
knowing that there was a new patch today I'd previously set skyrim to "do not automatically update" in the games list properties.
So there I was feeling smug that my game wouldn’t be affected by the new bugs the patch bought, ie dragons flying backwards and elemental resists not working, and it goes and updates on the sly anyway.

Re: Skyrim
Yup, Steam / Bethesda forced the patch to override the settings and apply itself. All I can say is have patience, we had all this with Oblivion but obviously without the Steam connection and things do get better.

Re: Skyrim
Yep I’m adapting to it rather than trying to roll back as some are doing. Reminds me of Runes of Magic when they used to balls it up.

Re: Skyrim
You know I think if I pass my driving test on the 15th I'll buy this game, gives me a bit more of an incentive to pass. Also by then we'll know if the patch actually fix anything or made it worse.

Re: Skyrim
Finally caved in and installed this today after having it sat on my desk since 11-11-11. Just playing around with a few mods at the moment, mostly shader and FX gizmos for screenshooting and desperately waiting for DaRN or something similar to sort out the awful menus.

Re: Skyrim
I’ve got used to the menu now it’s designed for a controller (something oblivion didn’t even support despite being a condole port) but yep agreed it’s not good if using mouse & keyboard.
Steering clear of mods for a while, I want to sink a good few hours into the vanilla game first, the only ones I touch are to enhance performance. I’ve taken it of ultra and play on high now, it runs better in the bigger cities. I was getting headaches and I think it was because it was flickering even though I couldn’t see it and fraps was in the 40’s, Still looks amazing but there is definitely room for improvement, the blood looks like Tesco’s ketchup, the better blood mod will be one of the first I use once I start down that path.
Oh and Sons getting Skyrim on 360 for xmas, it will be interesting to see how it compaires.

Re: Skyrim
Just a few screenies from my game, got a few mods running but nothing that touches the game mechanics, mostly graphic and shader enhancers.

Re: Skyrim
Ok well I'm getting this tomorrow as long as it doesn't snow too bad. I'm also going to try and get some Christmas pressents, but I've no idea how that will go, I've no idea what I'm going to buy...

Re: Skyrim
Ok it's pretty good. I think this game has my favourite fire spell, they are usually soo lame looking, I don't usually go for magic types but I couldn't help but pick to be one in this game. One thing though, I quite often end up attacking people that are on my side or neutral.

Re: Skyrim
Got everything maxed, it's running perfectly fine, seems like the game is capped at 60fps, mine goes down into the 50's and sometimes into the high 40's, usually when a lots going on. Not been to any cities yet I'm still at that first town, well the first one after the start area. Taking my time in this game like I did with Red Dead, I'm roleplaying a bit, at least with the clothes I'm wearing, I'm more interested in the way it looks than what it does.
Bought the raise zombie spell and revived a dead enemy... it didn't go too well for me, she turned on me.

Re: Skyrim
Ugggh for goodness sake I was attacked by bandits and in the confusion I ended up attacking my companion, it's so hard to tell everyone apart...
Are you guys having this problem?

Re: Skyrim
I leave my companion at home she brake sneak all the time, and I'm guessing area affect magic is getting your companion, I've not checked but there could be a trait in one of the magic trees to help with that.

Re: Skyrim
I'll look at the magic tree's and see, the basic flame thing isn't area of affect, it's just a beam of fire that hits one thing. It's more really that I just can't tell who is friendly and who isn't, and they can step into my way as well sometimes.
