    Olympics 2012 Empty Olympics 2012

I've been watching the Opening do-dar, it was pretty good till those teenagers came on texting... Why are we showing the world that our kids can't spell... It's like they are trying to say "Look Englands not stuck in the 1920's, our young can text mail each other through their talkies" to me it makes us look backwards that we are making a big deal out of something nearly every country does, I don't know who invented texting but I'm guessing that it wasn't us, if it was then ok, sure it's good to put it in there.

I've just heard David pissing Beckham is lighting the flame, how dare a footballer thats far too famous all year round come to this special event and light the flame, it should be an Olympian. It's an insult to Olympian's really, it's their event yet they are pushed aside. Ah well another reason to hate football.

So far I'm divided on the show, in places it's good in others it's a bit stupid and shite.

I hated the bit with the Queen and James Bond... It was lame...

I love the advert for the Paralympic's, not the part about them being the "super humans" that to me sounded like blowing smoke up their asses, "You aren't damaged, you are super strong people". I ain't bothered about that though, if people with disabilities like it then thats fine. I love the whole thing showing how people become disabled, car crashes and what-not. It's also nice that they aren't just being brushed under the carpet and are given a pretty bad ass advert, from that advert I'd be much more interested in watching the Paralympic's after all it has car crashes.

Yeah I saw the lighting this morning it was pretty damn good, I like what they did with the whole thing. I was relieved to find out that the damned footballer only brought the flame to the arena. I've already got more than enough reason's to hate football, it's getting pretty hard to remember all of them that and having to remember the arguements for those reason's when someone questions my reason's, well it all get's a bit much I'm glad not to have to add to that list.

The British athletes could have stood to have shown a little more decorum when they were doing that introduction walk thing, they were acting like tw*t's getting up close to the camera and shouting. I was pretty ashamed of them for that, also they got a bigger entrance than all the other nations, I don't usually watch the Olympic's so that might be normal but I felt they should have had the same entrance as all the other nations.

I've been watching the Judo mostly the women's, the men's has been a little boring but the women have been far more agreesive. It's the below 78kg women's today and the final is coming up, an American vs a Great Britain. The semi final for GB were brilliant, she beat a world champion who had beaten last years gold medalist in the quarter finals. I thought that the GB girl had done well but had drawn the short straw, it's her first time at the olympics and she would get close but loss in the semi finals and maybe get bronze. The fight went into over time as well, she was fighting well and the world champion was getting tired I thought that if it came to the judges we might win, in the over time who ever scores a point wins no matter how small the point, there was always a chance that a small mistake would end it. In the end the GB girl got an Ippon which is an instant win when not in over time, I was completely engrossed in the fight, amazing.

There was also a fight to see who would go on to the finals of the bronze and the woman that won that fight was fighting on one leg and with seconds to go she got one of the best Ippon's, that was more amazing than the GB girls win, it's a shame that I doubt she can beat someone else now, she should win a medal for that.

Awww damn she lost... But I can't say the American didn't deserve to win as much or more. The American scored a small point but didn't rest on that point and try to kill time till the end, she kept trying to get more. Can't say it was a close fight the GB girl was lucky not too have lost to an Ippon, and never really got in enough good offence.

The GB girl came from nowhere and was unseeded, and to get to the final after beating the world champion is pretty amazing, I'd say next games she's going to have the gold in the bag.

I've only seen the first few fights in the Taekwondo, it's been pretty good so far. I've recorded all of it and I'm going to try and catch up, though I did see who's in the final by mistake which kind of sucks. I can't help but think use your hands while I'm watching seem's such a waste to focus entirely on the legs. It might be a good move for me to take up Taekwondo, I've let my legs slip a lot over the years and I now fight almost completely with my fists, just using low kicks. I think I'll watch some kicking videos on youtube when I get some spare time and spend a few hours kicking my bag etc.

I can't say that I look at those guys and think I couldn't take you in a fight, a pointless thing to say really since they aren't in a real fight they may even loss points if they did act like that, actually they would. They may fight better if they didn't need to focus on composure and scoring points, though since thats 100% what their training has been based on for at least the last 4 years... They might need some time to get back into the swing of normal fighting.

I was watching the Judo last week as I said and one of the commentators kept saying that the practitioners are "Playing Judo", to me that sounds like an insult to Judo, it's not technically wrong to say that but it's use belittles Judo, it makes it sound unimportant. I think if someone had the balls to say to me that I'm playing at Kung Fu I think I'd play kicking their face to the back of their skull. They are just fighting and using the fighting style that they know which is Judo, of course they are fighting with rules entirely designed for Judo.
