Space Marine

The demo for this came out yesterday I think, I heard about it today though, it's like Kill Team sort of, except it's less of a twin stick shooter. It's a 3rd person shooter, better graphics as well and it has online modes, including co-op but that is supposed to be released after the game comes out as DLC, free DLC they say unless you get the game second hand. Not sure how anti-second hand this game will be.

I played the demo earlier and it's very good, it feels heavy and meaty just like playing as a Space Marine should. It's gory and brutal.

It's almost like Kill Team was a demo for this game or an old build that they moved away from but decided to release to help pay for this game. I can't imagine that, that isn't how it went down. Kill Team is a decent game (Except the lack of online co-op) so I don't think people were ripped off by buying it.

downloaded the demo on 360 it's about 1.5gb
theres two modes although its quite short.
the second mode gives you a jump pack altho i got a bit disentorieted but eventually found my way.
the graphics and action are awesome
its great when your in amungst a horde of orks ripping them up blood flyin evrywhere yeah like fen said gory and brutal. i especially like the way you can regain health with a coup de grace hoistin an ork on you chainsword.

In multiplayer you get to be either a normal Space Marine, an Assault Marine or a Devestator Marine. It has leveling up as well, which gives you more weapons, I'm guessing more bits for your armour and also I imagine new abilities.

You play as either the Space Marines or the Chaos Marines in multiplayer, it's a shame that you can't play as the Orks, but I think that might come as DLC or in the next game.

Quite liked the demo, and the Marines felt suitably heavy.

Correct me if I’m wrong but is this Warhammers first fps, why has it taken so long? I would have thought it would have been a natural progression after Space Hulk all those yeas ago.

I think it's their first 3rd person shooter, they did make a few FPS's, there were a few Space Hulk games on the PSone, Space Hulk was pretty good I think, long time since I played and I didn't do well on it you might want to give it a go if you can find it. They made another game called Fire Warrior which sold badly I believe, you played as a Tao, never played it myself but it looked bad.

I don't think there were any others but I've not hunted for Warhammer 40K games.

Yes Space Hulk was good for it's day but i remember that being more strategic.

Quite tempted though, I might wait till around Christmas if the price has dropped enough.

Space Hulk blood Angels was the one on the Sega Saturn, used to say goodbye to your nerves going down those corridors looking for genestealers.

Enjoying it a lot, didn't expect not to. Controls are good so far and yeah HACK HACK HACK! It's nice to play a good 40K game that isn't an RTS.

Is it possible to hook up a co-op game on pc? I've not played any of my steam games online so not sure what hoops I need to jump through.

Yeah there is a co-op game mode just looked it up and it appears to be 4 player. It's called Exterminatus. You just click on the game mode and then click on invite friends, not sure if it can be a private game, I imagine so though.

Ok there is a private game mode and it's pretty good, you survive against waves of enemies. It has CoD style level ups and stuff. Wish I had bought the Space Wolf skin now for like 24p. Ah well it was a pretty crap looking skin anyway, the pelt hanging from his waist looked more like a piece of paper than an animal skin. The skin is for online not the campaign mode right?

I wasn’t on Steam when you pm’d, well steam was in the background but misses was facebooking.
I’ve a new router coming that will hopefully sort out my flaky connection so hope to try this soon.

I took a look, you have to have an account and well I don't care enough to bother, I was hoping it would just give you a redeem code and that was that. If I really can't live without it I'll wait till it's on sale on steam for about 17p or whatever (I doubt it was 17p that was the skins price, it might be 75p).
