Installing Nvidia Drivers?

I downloaded what is supposed to be the correct nvidia driver for my card and windows 7. When I click on the installer the install path is for vista... so I have no idea where to install the driver to start with and if I just try clicking install I get an error message "Non 7-Zip archieve.".

I have no idea what I'm doing... is there just something on my PC I can click on to automatically find the right version and install it for me?

In the Steam window under the steam tab (top left) there`s a update Ati drivers.
Presumably there`s a Nvidea one shown there if your running nvidea cards.
It fetched and installed the right driver for mine. I think it also notified me of an update automatically.

I've got a thing on steam called check for updates but it just opens an internet window and doesn't load the page.

Steam's driver update only works for ATI cards as far as I was aware.

Sounds you maybe got a bad download, try downloading them again.
Nvidias website has an auto detect my drivers button, have you tried that?

The first time I tried I used the search with all the details of my OS and graphics card, the second time I used the auto detect. I can't remember if I tried to install the first download since I thought it gave me the wrong one.
