    Minecraft. Empty Minecraft.

I want this game. I didn't care about it but I've been watch Yogscast and a few other videos and it looks very good. Going to wait until the end of the month though if I can.

I like worlds that are generated by words, I wonder what would come up if Ragol Arms was typed in.

The game is also graphically basic so we could all play without there being much difference between our visuals, I didn't care much for it's look to begin with but now I think it's charming.

Here's a video that would be really creepy if this guy wasn't the father of one of the little girls. It shows what the game is all about so I don't have to explain.

I think it would be really cool if we set up a private server and made a world. We could build a pub in a little Ragol Arms town. The game can be modded so we could do all kinds of things, I don't know what the code is like but the skins should be easy enough to mod.

    Yeah... Have you tried this?

I've been getting way too many games recently, I've been buying new ones before I can really play the ones I just bought, would like to get this one though.

I've been keeping an eye on it, I know a few people playing and raving about it, they have a server but it has to be paid for.

But I've been holding out for an xbox indie game copy / rip-off http://www.fortresscraft.com/

I would get Minecraft over that Pop.py, Minecraft has mods and I would guess a better user base, there are people who upload adventure maps etc on Minecraft, I'm only guessing but I doubt that game even if it does let yo do that will be as good as Minecrafts.

From the 2 seconds I looked at that it didn't look very good.

ATTN: people that know stuff about internets and webs.

If by some chance we did attempt to have a server would we be able to host it ourselves for free of would that use up to much band width? I doubt I could host it I have tried to host on Byond and that doesn't work becuase of my wifi, yes I know what I have to do to fix it but I can't remember the password I need to do it so I can't, plus I don't think my internet is very good, its still a bit unstable.

    I'll let you know.

Minecraft = £10.00 without the ability to try before I buy.

Fortresscraft = about £2.00 for the first chapter and has multi player without any mucking about, and I can try before I buy.

I don't think you really need to try before buying, watch the video in this post, thats what you get it's fairly clear cut. Plus there is supposed to be an original version of Minecraft which is like a free demo, but you can't do much in it I've heard. It's a very popular game so I don't think you'll feel ripped off.

LOL after going down to the shops to make sure my card itself wasn't cancelled I came home and tried to buy it again, this time I clicked forgot password and changed it. Going to make a note of it now. I do now own the game.

I hate buying things online, makes me sooo nervous.

... I built a little house out of mud and sand, I took shelter at night and the next day went out to try and get some supplies and build a better home. I went out took a look around and then BAM Creeper! It blew up half my little mud pile, so I'm like HAHA HA but yeah better rebuild, so I get started and when I turn around! Creeper BAM!!! now my house is more of a hole.

Had a look at server hosting and quickly gave up on that idea, I like the idea of the game but it would be so much better on a shared server.

    I used to be in a xbox clan that was mainly fps focused, I still keep in touch and Minecraft pulled a load of them away from Black ops, I think they rent a server for around £6 a month, not much I know but;

1 - I wouldn’t know how to go about it.

    2 - I’m not prepared to pay.

There are public servers around, I think the guys from Yogscast host one and there are a few others, I mean it's not as cool as having our own one but it would still be good.

Lets face it this is a poor corner of Ragol.Sad

No ones going to pay £10 for a game that looks like it belongs on the Commodore 64. Even if Peter Molyneux says it’s the best game of the last ten years, and it won indie game of the year in 2010. it also won best debut, best downloadable & most Innovation. cheers

Other than the building which is fun there is also an element of just not knowing whats coming next, I was digging a mine shaft and hit a cave, which filled by shaft with water, then further down hit another cave, a really big one with waterfalls and a sheer drops, it was amazing but I ended up falling down a few times and getting a bit stuck in that I didn't know where I came from and couldn't see any light from the torches I dropped on the way in, I think I must have been carried by the current andyway I ended up in a room with lava. I jumped in the lava because I couldn't be arsed to find my way back up and now I'm trying to get down safely and see what I can find, there are monsters down there which need killing as well, but I can't see them in the dark. It's actually thrilling to play because you can hear noises but you have no idea where they are coming from, they could be just ahead in the dark, they could be in another cave on the other side of the wall. It's exciting to play.

Graphics, well actually it's very nice, the shapes are all sharp and look really good on my PC and I love the little hand movement when you start hitting stuff, it's lovely. If you ever liked lego this game is just like that, but you build the bricks as well. I think it's a good game for kids to play for creative reasons, but they may get addicted which wouldn't be so good.

It may never be as popular as CoD but this game is full of really bloody charm, adventure and creativity.

I keep finding caves bit they always end up being part of the same massive cave, there are some nice things down there but I'm not really able to explore as much as I would like getting down is hard because there are sheer drops everywhere, I've been watching other peoples videos and I've not seen any with as many high drops as this. There are also a lot of side tunnels and in the big new area I've found there is lava all over the floor, cutting me off from most of the room unless I dig around.

Thats all getting in the way of my main mission, I'm digging a shaft that goes directly to the center of the Earth with a spiral stair case. My shaft has a glass roof so the sun light fills the shaft in the day which helps me know what time it is in game and also make it easier to see, I intend to bring sun light to the center of the Earth!

I've seen people being jumpy and running away from stuff that doesn't look tough, I thought they were just messing around to be funny and play acting but I've done exactly the same thing at the slightest hint of monsters.

GAAAHHHH, I was finally getting into exploring took a good look around the cavern and it's soo freaking HUGE, most of it's lakes of lava so getting around was a pain, I thought I had explored most of it when I saw a big dark hole quite high up, I built some steps, climbed up and started chucking some torches around so I could actually see something, I noticed some water and followed were it was flowing, it went down this long tunnel, while I was staring down in awe at what I found, a bloody zombie and creeper sneaked up behind me and knocked me down that long tunnel and I think I got caught in the current and forced right into the dark, I tried to chuck some torches but the zombie and creeper came down to finish me off.

Just went back to get my stuff, killed those two naughty boys and the tunnel wasn't that big it ended just out of my sight. Checked the rest of the area which was quite big and went back. Well I saw back what I mean is I walked off an edge and feel in the lava... Got my stuff back just to loss it all... I did go back again just to see if anything did survive and a few things did, nothing much though. I did see something funny though a creeper and something else came falling off of some high place just to burn themselves up in the lava. I guess I'm going up now. I did like this cavern at first but now it's just too big with too many side tunnels. I look forward to finding something that doesn't take me a week to explore.

Typing Ragol Arms into the world generator creates some really interesting lansscapes. There's a desert, or huge beach where you spawn, which leads to a mountainous area with interesting caves and alcoves. I've seen some floating islands as well. Ragol Arms creates a much more interesting world than Gunrick did.

Is it something particular that you don't like or are you just not feeling it?

I watched a few of the videos by these guys which got me into the game. My nephew pointed me to them, I hadn't much interest in Minecraft before that.

I like the skin on the sign, it's just like the ones in Byond, which are stollen from something like RPG Maker I think?

From a few feet away the skins look fine, but up close they ain't. I like the vista's when you get up high and look around the game is actually very beautiful, I usually try to get as high as I can and watch the sun rise or set, of course at the start of the game there's not a lot you can do at night, unless you want to go out and get s'ploded. I might download a texture pack when I get bored of this one, I'm going to make a skin though, I looked at a guide and it looks very easy, easier than it is to make icons in Byond.

Blasted creepers blow up my shelter again, and exactly the same way one blows up part of my house and then another comes out of nowhere and blows the rest of it up. Lucky for me I had already finished building a watch tower so I didn't bother repairing it, I just moved. I built a watch tower which was supposed to just help me get my direction when I explored and it gets dark, but then it turned into a watch tower with a little side area with decking, then with a garden and now it's a full blown castle, took a long time gathering enough cobble stone to make the thing, I've been using what was left of my old shelter as a mine, it's kind of funny going through the rumble of where I scrambled to make a shelter before it got dark. I've got a green house too now, in the towers garden, growing wheat to make some bread. I never meant to live in the tower, I wanted to make a log house a bit further into the mountains.

I'm going to start exploring a bit more now, and I also want to secure the spawn point so that when I die I'm not completely helpless and in the dark. I'll make some outer walls a small hunt, with high ground to attack monsters from and some basic equipment, like bow and arrows. I've been spam killed a few times when I've been killed once at night. After that I'm going to fing a place to make a proper mine and set myself up there. I've not really been into the ground yet, only really to gather cobble stone, I've not gone deep.

The waah? I got blue screened when I killed a spider and when my PC started again my save file was gone. Very annoyed about that I was really liking what I was building up. There's a topic on the Minecraft forum about blue screening so I'm not the only one whos getting this. It's going to be hard to motivate myself to play this if this keeps happening.
