There are no zombies, the infected humans have a real world infection, I believe it affects ants. It's a fungus that grows in their brain or something and changes the way they act. It is possible that this could actually happen.

Bought the game, good so far slow paced but it's a beautiful world. Some of the surfaces are very flat like front of TV's, but I guess that can't be helped, the game must be pushing the PS3 to it's limits.

The games intro is one of the most emotionally involving I've ever seen, it rivals the end of Red Dead Redemption.

I didn't know anything about the game either before buying it, I avoided it. I didn't want to build up any hype, I just trusted that Naughty Dog would do the same great job they did with Uncharted, so far it looks like they have.

There is a fairly nasty bug in the game at the moment, in that the auto-save is screwed up. It just keeps saying auto-saving in progress (Or something like that) in the start menu and you can't manually save or quit the game, if you use the PS button to close the game it restarts the PS3, at least for me. You can continue playing the game as normal it just won't save, which I guess is worse than it crashing if you play for 7 hours straight. I guess I could do that since I have the next week off.

I'm sure it will be fixed in the next few days.

The auto-save bug seems to be fixed now, for some reason it appears to have involved the internet because playing offline acted as a temp fix and there wasn't a patch to properly fix the problem so it must have been their end. I can only assume data from the saves is being uploaded, I don't see any other reason why the internet would cause the bug.

Battles with infected are pretty hard, there's nothing scary about them from the few I've done they just play out like stealth sections, you are given warning before dealing with the infected. It is a very bad idea to go in guns blazing, very limited ammo and they don't go down easy. It's best to take out as many as you can without alerting the others.

I wouldn't look into the game too much there was a topic on Gamefaqs saying that IGN has a video up with ending spoilers in the title and all through the video. If you want to enjoy this game go in as blind as you can.

Finally activated the online pass and played a few games. I had my doubts about it but yeah works quite well.

It is an odd experience, I'd say relaxedly stressful. Players aren't running around all guns blazing like CoD, you usually have time to stop and craft stuff, just about everyone is creeping around though so you are never really safe but the game does give the illusion that you are. There isn't loads of gun fire since ammo is in very short supply so usually people are sparing with it, as a result fire fights are very careful and considered things.

You have to pick a faction to play, this faction can't be changed till your faction wins or loses, and I believe it is global. I don't fully understand the whole faction thing, but I like that you aren't just fighting for yourself.

I'm in the Hunter faction, didn't really intend to be but I clicked on it by mistake. If you get this game and you want to play with me then you'll have to join that faction or play against me.

This game man, this game it kicks your butt. I ran into a group of Hunters (A Human faction, not infected) and I could only see 5, 3 of which were talking in the middle, I had limited ammo so I thought "Hey there's only a few I'll lob my only bomb at those 3 and clean up the rest" so I did and I took out the other couple of guys, however whenever I thought I was safe I ended up running into gangs of guys. There must have been around 10 guys that I didn't know about and I had about 3 bullets! So I got creative and used smoke bombs.

There are no convenient weapons lying around in the game, you have to make do with whatever you have and if that's nothing... good luck.

Had some very rewarding battles in this game, it can get a bit much though, you take out a large band of guys then a brief break then another large band. It turns out there are still quite a few people alive. I would have liked to have seen some better thought out behaviour from the infected, after all they aren't Zombies, but they do act like them in the game. I think that's the only thing that I don't like about the game, they had a unique end of Humanity scenario but they chose to just make them into run of the mill Zombies. I'd have liked them to be more human, just aggressive. Still very awesome game and you can't have everything.

The dialog between characters is just so good, they are all interesting and complex people. Their faces show emotion so well, it draws you in and you start to care about them.

Carful  about giving away spoilers, I’m avoiding reading about it at the moment, plan to finish the Uncharted series before I look at this, by then it should be cheaper.

Yeah I'm trying not to give away any spoilers, trying to just give out the generic stuff without hints of which part it is.

If anyone thinks I've said anything that's even slightly a spoiler tell me and I'll delete it.

    Finished, done!

Loved the game, it's all done so very well.

I suggest playing this game on hard, I think you would harm your experience of the game if you don't.

Yep, but I've been off work this week and while I've not been playing every hour of the day, I have played a lot more than I should have.

I think the game is estimated at 18 hours.
