    inFamous Empty inFamous

Post by Fenon Mon Jun 06, 2011 11:37 am

I quite like inFamous on the whole, the story is ok so far and the characters are fine, graphics are ok too, the only real problem and the reason I've not bought the game is that it's a super hero game which is cool but his powers are boring. His little engery balls are like any other projectile, he has a slam attack when he jumps like just about anyone else with semi-super powers. Basically none of his powers are creative or interesting.

There's a TV show called Misfit's which is basically a chavvy version of Heroes, but on there was a guy who had power over milk, which at first seems lame but as the episode went on he twisted his power until it was really powerful, he twisted the milk that people had drank to kill them from the inside, for example sending it up into the brain and churning it into a cheese.

Now if they had done something that clever with inFamous it would have been amazing, his power to leech energy from people is perhaps the most interesting power he has. I think they could actually build a squel on that. In the first game there is a point where there is a power cut and whatever the character you play as is name is, we'll call him Dave, Dave suffers. I would like in the third game for them to expand on that and put Dave in a setting outside of a city where he feels weak and is even dying from being away from the city and he has to twist his powers to survive. Maybe he becomes like a vampire and steals it from living things and people. Maybe he creates batteries and charges when when he gets chance, or basic generators. I really like the idea that he is a Towny and he can't survive outside of the city, I think that is the most interesting thing about him.

As for actual powers well his darker powers could dip into the electrical signals in the human body, frying the brain, draining energy from body parts like the legs, which would be like pulling their legs out from under them, or from their arms and them to be basically defenceless. Could even not kill them by frying their brain but just drive them mad, or try them into vegitables. Could also absorb the energy from every living thing around him and turn it into over massive attack (plants and people around you die from the energy drain). I don't know what the side of goods powers could be, I don't really want to spend much time thinking about it because it's not like the ideas would actually be used. My ideas weren't exactly that creative but yeah it would be nice if they did do something interesting with his powers. In the second game all they did was give him mental powers they didn't expand on his electrical powers they just gave him boring powers from a different type of power, which is boring and lazy.

Sorry if my spelling and grammar is bad I'm quite far from the screen and can't see what I'm writing very well and I've not checked what I've written. I'm rushing because I want to get back to the game.

I have very much enjoyed the boss battles, there aren't many of them but they are good, not hard though, but I don't think I'm playing on a hard difficulty, if there are any hardness options.

I've gained new powers and they still aren't brilliant, they are still all standard fair but they are more fun to use now.

I don't know if I like the way the game stops at certain points and tells you what the good option and the bad option is, I mean we should all know what the right and wrongs are shouldn't we? I'm not a major thing, it doesn't really bother me.

The story is interesting enough, I'm interested to know whats going to happen and I don't know what will happen. I'm not super attached to any of the characters, I've not stopped to think if I pick this option a character might not like me. If I was given the option to kill any of them I don't think it would both me if I did or not. I don't dislike any of them I just don't feel a strong enough connection that if they died or left the story it would bother me.

I do actually quite like this game to the point that I would actually play it again being a good R Truth (Sorry been watching wrestling the last few weeks). I don't think it's something amazing, I won't be rushing out to buy the next game but it's a solid (Solid's not really the word I've fallen through the world a few times) and enjoyable game.

Ok scratch what I said about not wanting to go out to get inFamous 2 the last section of the games story was highly involving and interesting and I now want to see what happens next. I've finished the game the last boss was much harder than the others and the last section of the game was harder as well. His last power is also highly satisfying to use, it's still not very creative but lots of fun.

The credits, the credits are really good, the best I've seen in a long time. There is a really nice visual going in the background, I think it's gameplay but there are a lot of visual effects so you can't really see what it is, but it's not a section played over and over again it's different the whole way through and there is also a good piece of music played over the top. And while the credits roll down the screen quite slowly the credits actually didn't take long to go through, I actually just enjoyed watching them, I wanted to watch them the music and the visuals were nice enough that I was happy to sit through them, ok I didn't read the names but if I wanted to it would be a pleasent experience. This is how credits should be done.

Evil is more fun, usually I play good the first time through on games that give you that option, but I wasn't really expecting to like this game that much and from the demo I thought it would be hard to avoid hitting innocent people in fights so I didn't bother. Going back to powers I do quite like that the same powers develop differently depending on if you are good or evil makes it different.

I will get the second game but I can wait till it's cheap, or when Sony gives our bank details out again.
